fyi, I have been busy with various matters.. work n personal ..

Work

My work is getting busy n more interesting. The way I c it, here I have to prove myself again. No biggie, in fact, I welcome the challenge. Let me shine as who I am, not what I am ... *read between the lines* ..

What I want to do is work better .. I have been checking out this series that ran in Fortune Magazine, in March 2006. Various corporate figures were highlighted and from what is wrote, a few conclusions, for me, at least
- each have their own way / style
- discipline in following is important
- planning is also important

We tend to know this, but sadly the follow throughs are what lacks. I m guilty of 'em myself. So, it is up to me to follow what I have read, or join the have nots.


Personal

As some of you might know, middle of 2006, I got married, n middle of this year, god willing, we will become parents. Right now it is kind of surreal, but as my wife gets bigger, the evidence is right there. Gue nak jd father soon! *gulp* ... biar bener ... I am taking it slowly as it comes la... I am excited yet nervy abt the whole thing ... say, any recommended readings for father to be ah ?

My strong memory allows me to remember a lot of things. And some of em are things I don't want to remember. I have been working for the past years on letting go.. recently, through this my readings on NLP, I learnt a technique which helps a bit.

The technique is called association. My lingering trauma of certain events is due the association of audio n video of these events, meaning that I can still remember the visuals n sounds of the event. It suggested that these associations be changed.

What I did was mentally turning off the sound when the flashbacks began. It did help in negating the pain. The next step now is to mentally shelve the images, which I have not done yet..

Other personal notes
- I plan to publish a few blogs; now working on some ideas..
- I am hopping on the e-commerce bandwagon ;-) .. still working the details..
- and a work related certification that I plan to achieve by end of the year ...

it looks daunting for all of the above.. but I will do it. No wonder a lot of the high achievers, they can do so many things, as they are stingy with their time. Yep, masa itu emas .. n failure to plan is planning to fail ..

Johor Floods

It is quite a tragedy to be honest ... not once, but twice in a row .. when it comes to all banjir disasters, usually, Johor is the least known state to suffer, but this time, it seems to be a major problem.

Datuk Shahrizat called for volunteers, but the response was lookwarm ... this post summed it perfectly. In Malaysia, I noticed when disasters occur, it is usually, the unknown heroes, the common joe ( Ali, Ah Chong, Muthu, et al ), who do the hard work to help. The VIPs are there for the photo op. When the good times roll, it is only the VIPs who get limelight.

Forgive me for being cynically about all of this ... but I guess this is life ...

World Outlook

As various shenanigans are going around the world, I ask myself .. why would you want to bring another jr. in this world ? Then, it occurred to me .. oh well, maybe if I raise my kids and family alright .. it will contribute to a better world :-) ... sounds idealistic huh ? ..

New Work Place

Started work in a new place yesterday ... now my office is in the TTDI, a bit further away from KL. I am okay, but kind of nervous still, as this is a new place, but InsyaAllah, I will do fine .. 3 months probation though .... doakan gue okay ya ....

Dear blog.

It has been a long time since I posted. A good friend asked where I have been ... my simple excuse was I have been very2 preoccupied ,... tp, I have been going around the blogworld ... so I am not out of touch la sangat

1) Raya Trip

Raya was a trip to the Mrs kampung in kota bharu, kelantan. Folks, whatever you have heard abt the infamous Kelantan jam .. I can confirm that it is all true .. penat la ... i drove 9 hrs to KB, using the usual KL - Gua Musang - KB road ... balik, I went the roundabout way thru K. Tganu ..and it took 12 hours ! Luckily, it's a bi-yearly thing... :-) On the good stuff, loads of good Kelate food ( manis2 wehh ... ), met nice2 relatives... and received a few kain pelikat ( I am told it's a Kelate newly wed tradition ;-) ) ..cool !!

2) Final IS Paper

I have finished my final IS paper for my Masters finally !! It was overdue for about a year .. after the hee haw n whatevers, I managed to get it done. As usual, it was a last minute job, but I am not complaining, as it was my decisions that lead me to the situation. Bring on the convo next year :-)

3) Final Month

It is my final month at my current firm. I have to thank em for teaching me a lot, but I have to move on. And event that I have seen in the past weeks, confirmed my decision. The cool thing s that it is here, I have learned new work methods and now where my future is, albeit, a surety this time. Learnt a lot about myself, especially ... so I can't thank the firm enough...

4) Open Houses

What is Syawal without open houses ? This is a Malaysian tradition that should be cherished ... when it comes to food, Malaysia is king :-) .. I propose that the Tourism Malaysia 2007 says, Malaysia, Food Truly World !!! :-)

5) Congrats, to Acat n Cookie

The couple who inspired abt a year are getting hitched next year InsyaAllah :-) I am so happy for them. I met Cookie once and see her as a warm, jovial person, so Acat jaga dia baik2 okay :P ... hehe, she did ask abt the issue of going thru it again, after the previous hurt. I can talk long abt it .. but in the end, it can be summarized from these line in Good Will Hunting...

" You're not perfect sport, and let me save you the suspense, this girl you've met she's not perfect either. But the question is whether or not you're perfect for each other. 6) The Mongolian Murder

It can only happen here and still gets screwed up in its execution. To the UTK trainers, update your syllabus with loads of CSI, Alias and Gilmore Girls viewings please ..... (err, Gilmore Girls was to lighten themselves up ) ..

7) UMNO 2006

Late Night Thoughts

A few things to say, as Ramadhan is nearly over and Syawal is closer ..

1) Marriage 101

After 3 months of marital life, I salute those who have been for married for years :-) it's true folks ... it is hard work.. byk sabar2 and give and take I tell ya .. but, it is the little things that make it worthwhile .. :-) a stroke of the face in the end of a tired day .. mcm kata Sean in Good Will Hunting ;-)

2) Audio motivation
Recently for the past few months, I have been burning some of the free motivation mp3s that I have in my pc and listening to them, while I am driving. Alone of course ;-) And I have come to a common conclusion that it works as you listen to the messages over and over again. It is the simple messages which ring true and when you listen to it repeatedly, it inspires you to action yourself.. it works folks, but in the end, the choice is up to you, to do it or not :-)

3) December Comes

I am joining another firm in December. A positive movement in my career, expanding what I am doing in my current firm. I am happy to leave, but I thank my current place for making me a better professional. But, in order to grow, I have to move on. As a professional, I will do my job until end of November. Also, I know what is the major concept of my career . it is CRM. The details are still hazy, but the foundation is there.

Life is Interesting

Things are getting pretty interesting .. living in a marriage is really something, once u are actually in it. I understand the phrase " sedangkan lidah pun tergigit, ini kan hati manusia .. ", or something like that .. ;-)

Not a winning week for my sports teams. Pool , Skins , Raiders lost .. FSU, Notre Dame and Barca won though. I am a sports fan, yes, but, only nowadays, the lessons of the game I am noting it down and following ..

The previous post comment was really stinging, but true. The person was not the only one who discovered my marriage that way. There were others with the same comments, one way or the other.

In going through the list of invitees, I made the choices based on several factors. Suffice to say, some of the factors were plain inaccurate.

I sincerely apologize to them. I made a judgment based on the facts I knew then and was proven wrong.

It is pretty interesting for the past month, since dah sebulan, on marriage. The fun, up n downs, quirks ... I am adjusting as best as I can ... Most of the nasihat which I have received are true to a variety of degree.

Ngomel Wedding

No wedding is perfect. I guess there are a few things which bugged me about the wedding that was on my side.
Main grouse : The non attendance by people who received invitation and confirmed their attendance. And, in the aftermath, no reasons / explanations why ...

I stewed abt it for a while .. and then decided to just let go .. Luckily, my dearest is a patient person who kindly listens while I ramble ... letting go of bad stuff, is something which I have been practising for the past few years with a lot hurt that I have been through ..

As my dear friend Inn would understand, letting go is one of the easiest things to say, but hardest to do.

My thanks to those who came, and those who didn't come, but informed me.
