Here's Looking At Ya

I am adjusting on my time to my new workplace. It is kind of bliss ... flexi hours ... :-) ... I have considered this gig to be the one that I have dreamed of ... however, tomorrow ... another employment opportunity, where the monetary rewards are substantial. What do you do ? Here, where I am ... the RM is not exactly top of the line .. where else there .. the RM is good .. but I have always preached to others ... follow your heart, don't follow the RM .. is it time for me to follow my own wisdom ?

I guess ... the ding-donging is due to the fact of life necessities nowadays ... on one hand you want to follow your dreams ... on the other hand, you want security.

Decisions .. decisions ....

Where You Are Now

Now, I am at my new spot ... in academia, in a semi private university. Funny thing is, around May this year .. I told myself that I will be teaching in academia, by September this year. And, walla, the opportunity appeared.

So here I am .. at a new world. Since  I had already decided to go into academia the day I decided to pursue my Masters, I didn't hesitate to accept the offer when it came.

It has been a easy going process so far. I would not be teaching till this November, as the current semester is about to end. Rather, I am getting used to academia flow, if there is such a term.

2) Future

The future is what we plan and make of it.. what was in the past, stays there. Repeat this phrase :-)

Confession Of A So Called Former Blog Whore

Nice title isn't it .. actually the post has been spinning in my head for the past few months.

When I discovered blogging a few years back, thanks to my sister Alia, I was naturally became addicted to reading them. Aizudddin Danian, Najah .. were one of the few ones I read. And I am proud to say that some of them became my friends as well, online / real world.

This blog whore term came around some time last year before I got married. I was following ( and still do ) this particular famous local blogger, who blogs from overseas. I had a chance to meet this person when he/she was here for the holidays. It was not a pleasant experience and it left me feeling cold. I rationalized that not all bloggers are what they write in real life ( silly me ! ) .... and it was one off experience.

I realized that I became a blog whore ... someone who reads blogs, sorely to vicariously live their lives through the blog author's postings. Thankfully, I have recovered. The key to my recovery was simply this .... read a blog like you read a magazine. The info there is for your own pleasure, but don't take it too personal :-) if you like it, use it .. if you don't like it ... discard it ... and if you admire the blogger, dont go ga-ga personally over them.

That is why, nowadays, I rarely blog hop .. I tend to have a list of blogs which I read daily ( incl. that person ! ) Also, if I see a famous blogger which I am reading, I do not approach him / her unlike in the past... unless I know him / her.

To those who wonder who he/she is .... all I can say is .... dia pandai menyusun hidupnya :-)

Never Say I Assume

I just finished reading the book " Never Say I Assume ", by Tan Chin Nam. Have to admit that the biography is very entertaining and insightful. A rare biography by a successful Malaysian businessman. One thing I really liked about the biography was the no BS words that he used. He revealed some stuff, warts and all. As a businessman, it is not surprising that he has done a few tricks here and there ;-) but at least, in a way, he was honest about.

1. Driving a yellow Mercedes 230, the driver conveniently drops outside his car window, an empty plastic bag, that fell on the road.. right in front of me !

In The Memory Of Susanna Jafri Tay

I met her formally first time on Sept 6, 2003. We were introduced earlier through a friend and began texting each other before the meeting.

She was an interesting person... we shared a love for Indon teen movies .. we saw Ada Apa Dengan Cinta, Eiffel I'm In Love and Ungu Violet .. we would talk about various stuff. The more I knew about her ... the more I could sense that she was a kind soul who had some bad luck when it came to personal matters. In spite all of that, she loved her family ( especially her dad ), more than they will ever know, she was a great friend to her friends and a great colleague ....

Getting the news from my friend Zylia this morning and checking it in the papers was a shock. We drifted apart since early last year, due to personal differences. Our YMs were brief .. she became secretive and didn't say much. When she got married, it was through a friend that I found out about it. It was a hush hush matter.

My regret is that I didn't follow up on her ... I wanted her to have her space with her hubby ... now, I googled her name .. and got to know a few things .. she had transferred to Skudai and she was 7 mths pregnant with their first born. A wave of sadness and guilt is passing over me as I am writing this post. We had some really good times .. and I counselled her a lot when she texted/called me about her problems.

One of my fondest memories with her was the LOTR Trilogy marathon at TGV Sunway Pyramid that I went with her and her friends ... we had a good time and I loved the experience. And the Indonesian movies we shared..

Susan, saya dan rakan2 lain akan merindui mu ... keceriaan and semangat happy go lucky mu akan kami ingati. :-) ..terima kasih kerana menerima saya and memahami saya.... it is so true, when they say that you only miss someone after they are gone ....
