Movies + ?

1) This past 24-36 hours I watched a few movies on DVD ... emotions ranged between LOL, sweet smile, melancholic smile, acknowledged nod ... question : why do we watch movies ? Many have argued that it is just for pure entertainment. I will tell you why I watch movies - escapism + motivation + inspiration :-) .. that's it.

I saw

1) Robin Williams Live

Hilarious .. most of it :-) ...had its usual share of profanity laced.. but it was good and I laughed out a few times. The man is a riot. Definitely recommended ;-)

2) The Wedding Date

A typical romantic comedy :-) but, it was kinda good .. the performance of the lead actress Debra Messing who plays Kat was the one that held this movie together :-) And it was set in a English setting ( and I am sucker for English setting romantic comedies ;-) ) the premise is interesting. Hiring a male escort for a wedding, to pretend that he is the boyfriend, just to throw off her ex, who happens to be the best man to the groom who is marrying her sister.. interesting eh ?

Hmm.. maybe I should do something similar for my next wedding to visit ..bosan la pi sorang2 ..cewah .. oh yeah, Maroon 5 'Secret' n Michael Buble's 'Sway' are featured here. I'll always think of this movie when I listen to these songs.

3) Under The Tuscan Sun

This movie first came to my mind when it was featured on this blog post.

Suffice to say, Diane Lane shone in this movie. ;-) .. and one reviewer put it .. it is pure escapism. It is escapism, but entertaining escapism. One line that was said in this movie was crystal clear .. as a character says it "Never lose your childish innocence. It's the most important thing." That I will hold dearly.

Many things in this movie I can identify with, so I would really recommend this movie .. paling kurang pun enjoy the landscape ... pure gorgeousness. Please beware though that this a chick flick okay. No boom-boom bang-bang here.

4)Closer

I first heard of this movie in this blog, where the blogger had an obsession with the movie for a while. I did not understand why, but after watching the DVD, I can see why. This movie is intriguing.

In the end of this movie, it made me think. All four main characters in this movie were grey. It is a movie, yet, .. their characters do exist in real life. Well, the people I have met anyway.

Loosely, it is about four people, 2 couple in a complex relationship deal. It is funny, sad, melancholic in a way. In the end, nothing is ever clearly resolved. I think I am going to watch it again, maybe ...just to get a clearer picture perhaps.

The movie advocates the point that nothing is ever clear in relationships .. there are grey areas, no black n white, which to a certain extent is true ya .. Definitely recommended ;-)

Demons + Possibilities

1) Do you have demons inside you ? I do. Well, not the occult or similar thing .. it is kinda like the bad stuff that you keep inside. It consists of the bad moments, low self-esteem, painful memories, etc. Dulu, I used to have all this stuff running around in my head, so what I did was gave them form so that I can imagine what they look like. What the form was two black dragons ( similar to that you see in Chinese comics ) with fire eyes, breathing fire. Usually, most of the time they remain out of sight. But when shit happens, and I can't take it anymore.. they come out, feeding on my fears ( whatever that was going through at that time ) and magnified. It was the misery I felt which fed them.
Syukur, lately, they have been pretty quiet. The last time they appeared was after my best friend's wedding for a short while. Even if they appear, I able to control their appearance and influence. The scary part is .. I actually enjoy it that they appear when I am angry ... I become more focused, more intense .. luckily I don't follow my impulses at that time.
I have to credit this blogger for helping me in facing them. She has helped me in a way, to change my thoughts and how I think, at least, leading me to change them thoughts .. Terima kasih, Inn.

2) Today and Tonight, another possibility is there ... I am cool. But, hmmm ... syukur padaNya. God helps those who help themselves ..

Post Penang

The past few days have been a bit of a blur ..:-) Anyway, I finally moved out from the Penang apt and brought all remaining stuff back down to my apt in DD. Yep, ada la 4 bags. Phew, carrying 'em on my Ferrari was a bit tricky , but settled it.

So now, I am finally for all intents n purposes based here again. ;-)

Semalam, when I was on feri sending my bicycle to the KTM B'worth .. heard this song on my mp3 player .. with the breeze, the seawaters ... the memories came back again. She is now happily married, and I wish her all the best. The heartbreak that she gave was something ...

Mersing + Oasis

1) Mersing

I was away at Mersing for the past few days. A camping by the beach at a small chalet resort in Teluk Iskandar with a bunch of friends. It was good. I had fun. Enjoyed the clean sea air n water. ( pi berenang at Air Papan ). Yours truly loves to swim ;-)

I went there from KL and back, on my ferrari. The total time taken was 12 hours. The trip was uneventful, save for 2 tense filled hours .. Keluang to Mersing 7.15 pm - 9.30 pm Wednesday night. Lonely twisty dark road..misty at times. I nearly slipped a few times. And at times I was scared. What I did was mumble positive words repeatedly and thought positively during the scary moments. When you are alone in a dark road, you do not want to think about supernatural stuff kan ? ;-)

2) Oasis

This song was kind of the trip's theme song. My sis says Liam does not sing, he warbles,.. but they still rock !!!

I was typing a post, then the browser crashed ! .. well.. let me summarize what I wrote just now ...

1) Acknowledged an addiction and working to overcome it.

2) This piece of the local news. I wish them all the happiness. I know how it feels lonely at nights... :-|

2.1 ) Hmm, ada harapan buat gue. ;-) My future wife could be in Form 1 tahun ni !! .. hehe.. ada excuse baru for my relatives ;-p

3) Went to a job agency. Ok la .. but see how they can help me. A bummer that I am not working , but .. during this break .. I learnt a lot about myself, saw a lot n observed many things and adored her. ( I still do ;-) )

4) Went to see this show at Sutra. I had a great time .. and I have a new appreciation for the man and his works. Will be going there again for next month's performance. Something about the place...

Nak Ke Tak Nak + NKOTB

1) A couple of days ago, I went to Cheras to look for a music album, which I found there. Wanted to buy, but .. wanted to get it later. This time, one year ago, was way too late. Tak jumpa, and the album is hard to find nowadays. Lesson : When you delay decision, berani la tanggung consequences. The album is the debut and only album by the local group, Juliet The Orange.

2) During the trip there, I bought two music video compilation vcds. One is by Def Leppard, containing all their music videos. I'll review that later. But the next one, is making me smile so broadly. It's a compilation of music videos by NKOTB. *Squeal with glee* .. ok, hands up gue mengaku .. when they were fab during the late 80s and early 90s, I was a big fan. :-) .. sheesh, if I cerita abt my minat with them during those days.. hahah.. I would blush .. they were THE boyband masa my time. Looking at them videos made me smile..

It's Ok

* Admittedly, these past two weeks .. my mind has been thinking loads of stuff and I mean loads .. of new thoughts ...

1) It's okay

Today, while biking over .. I realized that it is okay. It is okay to feel sad and lonely ... I realized that it is just being human .. life has up and downs. It is not a sign of weakness. Previously, I would be angry whenever I feel like it .. but now I'm okay. And, keep on living. Only now, I understand what Joel Boyd said, about ten years ago.

Hmm, the illusions about her. Maybe it was all illusions . hmmm... still, I thank her for making me smile and keeping my spirits when the times are tough.

Godfather + Sideways

Bought a few DVDs a few days ago kat Uptown.

The Godfather Trilogy

This trilogy is a must have for any movie buff. The tale of the Corleone family... the words, scene and life lessons .. what can I say ;-) Last nite, I did a cursory check on all three DVDs .. and spent a few hours ;-) .. the movies are timeless ... which scenes I like ? ... too much to remember ..but on top of my head.. the shortlived marriage of Michael and Apollonia in Sicily, .. first meet, courtship, marriage, first night, Apollonia's death.

I have watched it loads of times, and it still captivates me the each time I see them. There is something new I would notice.

Warning - the movies to some extent, does romanticize the whole Mafia gig .. but in the end, in Godfather III, there always a price to pay ..

Sideways

This flick is a cool drama / comedy buddy movie. I wanted to see what was the big deal about this movie, since it did pretty well in the movie awards circuit last year. For me, I enjoyed watching it, but the movie , at times, touched an uncomfortable raw emotion for me, especially in the lead character, Miles. Kind of art imitating life perhaps. What is it ? Watch it yourself .. and perhaps u get the idea *wink*

1) Bila aku berfikir atau teringat dia, aku bertanya .. adakah aku ni mengejar bayangan seperti biasa ? Mungkin .. mungkin ... bukan pertama kali aku direject or told in nice words .. " Let's just be friends " .. selalunya selepas ini berlaku, si gadis yg aku suka tu, aku mudah aja lupakan or anggap dia sebagai normal. Tidak dgn dia .. aku persistent kali ni ;-p .. tapi, aku tidak psycho atau go ga-ga. Aku tenang kali ni .. tenang dan bersedia menghadapi realiti. 1.2 ) Aku ingat memori2 aku dengan dia. Apa yg berlaku masa kita bertemu utk pertama kali .. dan sekiannya. Pernah dia bertanya, mengapa perlu aku ingat benda2 yg padanya yg remeh temeh ? .. aku kata, aku memang tidak mahu lupa. Tapi, aku tak beritahu dia ... yg aku paling ingat is memori masa kita dinner dulu .. dia kata aku ego. Aku marah, tapi, aku terima kenyataan. Pada aku, bak kata Melvin Udall in As Good As It Gets, " You make me want to become a better man "

1.3 ) Pernah sekali dia call n tinggal voice mail sbb aku tidak sempat akan angkat hp. Dia tak tahu yg utk seminggu, pesanan dia aku tidak padam. Bila aku rindu dia, aku dengar pesanan dia dlm voicemail ;-) .. akhirnya pesanan itu hilang, sbb Maxis simpan seminggu aje. Kejam kau Maxis :-p

Gol N Gincu N Casablanca

1) Tadi siang I went to watch Gol and Gincu at 1 Utama. Well, hmm.. nak kata expectations tu takde la sgt, but I read a few reviews here n there so ... oklah, pi tgk .. sokonglah filem tempatan :-)

Kisah : Cerita dia agak ttg simple. Basically, about a girl, Putri, yg main futsal sbb nak balik bf dia. Putri n geng BTB ( Bukan Team Biasa ).. ada juga diselit kisah2 teammates dia ( J, Dayang , Jiji )

I would recommend people to watch this flick. The main reason I guess is because the film is honest and looks real, even though, it is a simple story. It beats Kuliah Cinta anyday ;-) ... senang follow cerita ni .. soundtrack pun ok .. Malaysian teen flick but tak condescending.

The performance of the actors n actresses were cool ;-) .. Fazura, u r H.O.T .. Sharifah Amani, u r making me drool ;-) .. Sazzy, u can kick me anytime babe.. the 3R ladies cool gila .. Ms Ponds, *wink* .. rest of the cast did their job well.

Since this flick is produced by the team yg buat 3R, some women issues were highlighted. Incest dan self-image antaranya. It is done in an interesting way, so my props to the team.

Lu Lompat, Gua Lompat

1) Yesterday, went back to Penang for a short trip. On the bus, the driver pasang Titanic. While reading the paper, tgk2 la sikit .. I concentrated a bit when the scene that Rose wanted to jump of at the back of the ship n Jack selamatkan dia. Jack uttered the famous phrase .." You jump, I jump .. " ..
Ingat tak demam Titanic melanda dunia ? hehe ... ramai org demam tgk filem ni .. I think the main reason sbb ia kisah cinta .. cinta abadi n tulus la katakan ;-) .. hehe.. but for me, the main reason I liked watching it sbb it conveyed the situations and emotions oleh penumpang2 tragedi Titanic ..can't imagine what I would do or act if I was there. I hope they rest in peace.

2) Masa dalam bas tu juga, aku fikir tentang dia. Mengapa aku suka dia, walaupun dia hanya menganggap aku kawan aja. Bila aku berbicara dengan memberku yg baru kahwin tu,E, kalau gadis lain, aku berkira sikit ( cewah .. ) tapi, dia.. aku terima dia sebab diri dia .. baik n buruknya. Kalau dia call aku minta tolong, pasti aku akan berbuat apa sahaja .. tapi.. kadang2 aku rasa mahu sahaja melupakan dia , tapi, bila dgr lagu dia, aku terus tersenyum n teringat dia. Nak katakan angau, angau ni dah lama juga ... ;-p *sigh* if she only knew ..

2.1 ) Masa dalam bas juga, terfikir yg selama ni aku berminat pada ladies yg memang gerenti aku tak dpt .. mcm magnet songsang la aku ... E hanya menasihati aku bersabar .. pergh , boleh la org sabar, kau dah ada Z ;-p .. hehe ... so sekrg ni, aku tak fikir apa2 dah sgt. Think positive n simpan segala rindu, cinta n dendam utk si dia.

2.2 ) Rasa2nya patut tak aku bagi deadline pada dia ? A Visit To Kilang Cokelat

Just came back watching the midnight of the movie, Charlie and the Chocolate factory with my newly married friend.

My review : Sweet as chocolate :-p .. it is a good movie, on the top it is a funny flick, but underneath it, a few things came to my mind , byk hidden messages.

My newly married friend may not know this, but I think he is going to be alright with this marriage thingy. ;-) And, in spite of my almost cynical thing about the whole marriage + relationship gig, he's inspiring me a bit, and his beloved is so lucky to have him, .. but then I think she knows kot, that's why she married him in the first place !!

The Wedding Epilogue

Yesterday night, I was the best man ( pengapit ) for my best friend's wedding. He got married last Saturday. The nikah n reception ( on the lady site ) was on Saturday, while his reception was last night, somewhere in Shah Alam.

I experienced a multiple of emotions these past 24 - 36 hours, and probably will be in some similar state in the next few weeks or so. I cannot explain it , maybe some of you understand it .. but, .. bear with me if my writings sound a bit strange from time to time.

He was my best friend, ever since I came back from the States. We used to trade our stories of the pursuit of love, and other stuff. He understood me more than most people who think they know me. We used to travel almost everywhere in Malaysia .. n on his idea, slept in some hotels in Klang Valley !

Then she came.

When they hooked up, I was happy .. delighted even... but then the creeping realization came ... sooner or later .. it will come to this.

To their credit, I was privy to their relationship development ( ups n downs ) .. I knew this was something special for both of them. Don't ask why .. I just knew .. so I prepared myself ...

Prepare to be alone again.
( * my sis cakap .. grow up ! * )

Saturday till a few minutes ago, I was okay ...smiling, laughing, etc .. now the tears are coming down ... *jap* ...

Forgive me dear readers.. I'll be fine eventually. I will always be fine ... I have always been on my own. Yep, I can do this.

The wedding was beautiful. They were a beautiful couple, surrounded by relatives and friends. Smiles n laughter all around.

Begitu Sempitnya Waktu, Begitu Hebatnya Cinta

1) Yesterday I saw two movies at GSC 1 Utama .. actually, my first time visiting the cineplex. Nice place, similar to GSC Gurney Plaza style, so I was familiar with the layout. On to the movies review

Camp ( 1.45 pm )

I was intrigued to watch this flick as it was mentioned in KLUE magazine. And it was kind of interesting premise.. summer arts camp for teenagers. And no, I was not going horny here ;-p

I enjoyed it :-) If there is only one reason to watch it is to watch the teens who performed in this movie .. they can really sing and dance. Turns out that they were actually talented teens in their own right, and their honest performances saved this movie from being a run of the mill stuff. Now, the story is another hal .. regularly run of the mill stuff.. it did touch a bit on teen gay stuff but it was lightly skirted around.. during the whole time, I thought to myself is that I would recommend this movie to local teens who have done sek menengah drama / play / show ... I think they would enjoy it.

2) Ungu Violet 4.10 pm

Now this movie was what I have been waiting for, ever since I read that it was released in Indonesia around June. For one, it has the amazing and babelicious Dian Sastro in it ( a little trivia : Her full name is Diandra Paramitha Sastrowardoyo .. yep, gue hafal nama itu :-) )

I really like this movie ;-) .. really love this movie ..;-) .. it is a change as this movie features a more adult role for Dian and her fans from AADC ( tak tahu .. tanya kawan2 ;-p ) ... and she did well. Admitted this is a slow drama movie, but if u r willing and patient, just relax and let yourself follow and enjoy the story of Lando n Kalin ... the movie's tagline says it all .. definitely, an A+ in my jiwang list ....
